Absolutely! Our shows are wonderful opportunities for both experienced performers and those just starting their performing journey! Every show is an educational opportunity for all levels to improve vocal, dance, and acting skills!

All families must register online in the Parent Portal which can be accessed on our website at the top of each page, or on the 'Registration' page. Parents will have access to the Parent Portal throughout the session to be able to easily view payments, classes, shared files, and more. Parents must acknowledge receipt and understanding of these policies during the registration process. Registration will be for the entire session, September through May. Registrations will be accepted for Dance Team & Troupe until October 4, 2020. Registrations for all other classes will be accepted until January 31, 2021 to ensure recital participation.

The Team Fees for Junior Troupe, with the exception of the team jacket, are included in tuition. The team jacket will be charged with December tuition. Auto Pay is required for paying Team Fees. Enroll in your online account to pay via credit card or bank account. Cash or check will be accepted only if paying in full. The Team Fees for the year are totaled and divided over four months, September through December. Fees are charged on the 15th of each of those months. Detailed statements will be loaded into each students' online account.

Our facility offers a main dance studio space, a private lesson room, and a lounge area in the rear. Our lounge area is currently closed due to COVID-19. Please see our Safety Guidelines for proper entering and exiting procedures that will be in effect until restrictions are lifted. Please note that our facility includes a security camera that records video and audio.

Tuition is charged on the first business day of each month. There are two ways to pay: 1) Enroll in Auto Pay through your online account. This will auto-deduct the tuition each month from your stored credit card or bank account. 2) Submit a payment each month either online (VISA or Mastercard), or by dropping off cash/check at the studio. If paying with cash or check, payments should be put into envelopes and dropped into the studio payment drop box in the front entry. Payments must be received by the 10th of each month.

Should a student need to miss class, please notify the studio as early as possible via email or phone call. Students should make up the class by joining on Zoom or Google Classroom. TEPA provides all costumes for our productions. Students will need to provide a base layer such as shorts and a tank top or a leotard that they can wear under their costumes to allow for easy costume changes. Performers will also need jazz shoes, either black or tan, and may be asked to provide some basic pieces such as black pants if requested.

Come sing and dance with us in this engaging and energetic class! Children will grow their love of music and the arts while singing and dancing along to their favorite songs! Tuesdays 11:00-11:45 Tuition $40 for the whole summer

Troupe members are required to attend their weekly rehearsals in order to participate in Troupe. The inability to attend rehearsals during the usual time will disqualify a performer from participating in the Troupe. Students are expected to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of rehearsals in order to be ready to go at the start time. Students who are habitually late will be removed from routines at the instructor’s discretion. The week of each competition, there will be a mandatory dress rehearsal during class time. Report all known conflicts with rehearsals at the beginning of the session. If an illness arises, notify the studio as soon as possible. For non-severe illness (cold, headache, cramps, etc), students should still try to attend and will be allowed to observe rehearsal. Extended absences due to illness will require a doctor’s note to avoid removal from the team. 2 absences per semester are allowed in order to fully participate in the Troupe. More than 2 absences per semester may result in removal from routines. Unexcused absences and no-call/no-shows are not permitted and may result in immediate removal from routines without a refund of competition fees.

Parents may contact teachers to discuss student progress and questions about class structure or class-related activities. If a student needs to miss a class or lesson, please inform studio personnel as soon as possible via email. If a private lesson needs to be cancelled last-minute, please send an email AND call or text Ms. Carrie or Ms. Kristine.

Should an instructor be unable to attend a class, either a substitute will be provided or class will be cancelled. If there is a cancellation, a makeup class will be uploaded to Google Classroom. Refunds will not be issued for cancelled classes. That’s Entertainment Performing Arts coincides with the decisions of school districts 15 & 211 in the case of inclement weather. Parents will be notified by email or phone as soon as a decision is made to cancel class.

In the event that TEPA is forced to close the physical studio due to government restrictions, we will transition to an online platform. Students who wish to withdraw for online classes but return for in-studio classes may do so, but recital participation is not guaranteed.

If a student notifies the studio after that date, the $100 recital fee will still be assessed. Participation in the dress rehearsal is mandatory. Students who cannot attend the dress rehearsal may not be permitted to participate in the recital.

Students may withdraw from class up to two weeks into the session without penalty by notifying our office of the desire to withdraw. After the two-week period, a refund of any payments will be given for 2nd semester’s classes only (January through May). Students may withdraw from 2nd semester prior to January 4th, and will be refunded any tuition payments made towards that semester less a $50 administration fee.

A recital fee of $100 per student will be assessed with February tuition for all students participating in the recital. The fee will be $60 for each sibling. The fee includes a recital costume, venue fee, digital photos, and recital video. If a student requires any additional recital costumes, they will be billed at $60 each. Most TEPA shows allow performers to join the cast without auditioning first. We hold auditions at the beginning of the rehearsal process to assign roles. Cast sizes are kept small and all performers are highly featured in each production!

There are a variety of reasons why actors are placed in certain roles, and our production team always strives to showcase the strengths of each actor! This technique-exclusive class will offer the opportunity for students to enhance their performance in all classes and routines by providing a foundation of proper body positioning, turnout, spotting, turning, leaping, and ballet vocabulary. Productions held during the school year will offer detailed schedules showing which actors will be called for each rehearsal, working around as many conflicts as possible. Tech and dress rehearsals will be held during the weekend and week leading up to opening night. Tech and dress rehearsals may be extended as needed. During summer camps, students will mix rehearsal time with games, crafts, and outdoor activities!

This intermediate Jazz technique class will focus on expanding on the basic jazz skills to include more challenging movements, combinations, style, and rhythm. Dance apparel can be ordered directly through the studio. Visit our online store under the Shop menu heading on our website to place an order online. Bulk orders will be placed with our supplier the second and fifth weeks of each semester. Orders placed outside of those bulk orders will be subject to a $9 shipping fee. Sales tax will be assessed at the Palatine sales tax rate of 10%.

Musical Theatre combines a variety of dance styles, including ballet, tap, and jazz. This class will provide a technical foundation for all of these styles to enhance a students’ Broadway dance skills! Students will work on technique exercises and learn routines from popular musicals! This class is essential for any young triple-threats! Highly recommended for Teen Theatre Ensemble as a supplementary technique class. Students are expected to exhibit positive, professional, and respectful behavior at all times towards all other students, parents, and instructors. Any behavior deemed inappropriate will result in the student/parent being asked to leave class with no refunds. We expect our students and parents to behave respectfully at all times! Students must practice safe behavior before, during, and after class. Hanging on the bars, practicing unsupervised lifts or acro tricks, or playing with props outside of the instructor’s direction will not be tolerated. Students should never give another student a ‘note’ on their performance in class. Instructors will address all necessary corrections. If there is a student or parent concern, the proper avenue is to address the teacher privately outside of class. We strive to create a professional and positive environment for students to foster their love of the performing arts!

Since the Warehouse Theatre is a Black Box Theatre with limited seating, ticket sales will open first to cast members only who will be allowed to purchase a limited number of tickets for the run. After the initial sale period, all remaining tickets will be opened up for general purchase. If shows are sold out, we unable to add more seating as we release every available seat for sale. Audience members are not permitted to sit on the floor, stairs, or stand to the side of the seating area.

That’s Entertainment Performing Arts, LLC is not responsible for any personal items brought to classes or left at the studio. Cubbies will be provided for students to store personal items during class. That’s Entertainment Performing Arts is not liable for any missing or damaged property that is stored in the cubbies or left elsewhere in the studio space. Students are responsible for removing all of their items after class. Students are not allowed to permanently store their items in the cubbies. Anything left behind at the end of each week will be moved to the lost and found. These items will be donated at the end of each semester.

Leaps and Turns class focuses on specifically those special skills to enhance any dancer's abilities and range. Students will be lead through exercises to develop proper muscular structre and technique needed for executing a variety of leaps and turns. This is an excellent complimentary class to expand a dancer's skillset! Instructor Approval Required This beginning level class will give students an introduction to pointe technique whether they are not quite ready for pointe shoes yet, or are already up on pointe. Students will work on proper muscle development and technique to acheive the necessary foundation for supporting themselves on pointe shoes and avoiding injury. Students must be evaluated prior to admission into this class. Students may take this class with or without pointe shoes, depending on their evaluation. Instructor Approval Needed This is an invite-only class for our advanced and working professional kids! Join us for the session, or drop-in as needed. This class features advanced tap and ballet technique for students who are focused on a professional career in dance or theatre. Focused on technique and performance, this class will enhance the dance abilities for any student who wants to further their stage career! This is also a drop-in class. The drop-in rate is $17.00 per class. Parents are not permitted to be in the dance studio or waiting area during classes. All classes will be available for viewing on Zoom.

Private lessons can be booked for the entire session as a weekly lesson, or as drop-ins. Enrollment should be done through the Parent Portal. If a lesson is not available at a desired time, please contact the studio to discuss options for scheduling. Students must register for drop-ins online at least days prior to the requested lesson date. This is done through the Parent Portal by selecting the desired lesson and choosing dates to drop in.

We will attend two competitions throughout the season (one for Junior Troupe) that will be determined based on team members’ availability. There may be too many conflicts to ensure that every performer will be able to perform at every competition, but will we do our best to select competitions that work for the most performers Conflicts for competitions are due by October 1st! No conflicts will be accepted past this date. If a student has an unavoidable conflict arise, they can be pulled from a competition, but refunds will not be given under any circumstances. We do not have control over when the competitions choose to schedule our routines over the course of the competition weekend, therefore we cannot accept partial-weekend conflicts. Students must be available for the entire weekend (including Friday evenings) of a competition in order to be registered for that competition.

Recurring weekly lessons are billed monthly as regular tuition. Drop-ins must be paid at the time of enrollment via the Parent Portal. If a student wishes to pay with cash or check for a drop-in, payment is due prior to the start of the lesson. Drop-in lessons that are not paid by lesson time will be cancelled and the balance will remain on the students' account.

Competition schedules are released 7-10 days prior to the competition weekend. We cannot control when the competitions choose to schedule our routines and no refunds will be given if a student cannot make it to their scheduled performance time.

Please join our Facebook group “TEPA Dance Team and MT Troupe Information” for team members prior to your first competition so you can get detailed information throughout each competition weekend. We will post updates on the check-in and dressing room locations, as well as scheduling and award updates throughout the weekend.

If a student has an excused absence, they will be allowed up to 2 makeup lessons per semester (must work with instructor’s availability). Cancellations the day of the lesson will not be made up and will still be charged the regular lesson fee. Should the instructor need to cancel a lesson, two lessons will be made up each semester. Credits will be issued for any additional cancelled lessons. Drop-ins that are cancelled by the student the day of the lesson will still be charged and will not be rescheduled as a makeup. Students enrolled in private lessons on Saturdays will automatically be charged for four less weeks to accommodate competition weekends when lessons will not be held.

Students will be a given a ‘ready time’ when they will need to be present with hair, costumes, and makeup ready. Students who arrive after their ready time may not be able to compete, and no refunds will be given. Competition schedules can run early, and we are expected to be early as well if that is the case.

The dressing rooms are to be used for performer preparation and quick-changes. Parents will only be allowed in the dressing rooms to assist with hair, makeup, and costumes, and to help with quick-changes. Parents must vacate the dressing room once the instructors need to do run-throughs and give notes. Parents cannot remain in the dressing rooms throughout the day. Students are expected to watch their teammates’ routines when they are able and should not spend the day in the dressing room. (Side note – No parents will be allowed in the backstage area at any time or it could lead to disqualification.)

Students will receive specific instructions for their hair and makeup prior to competitions. It is recommended that they arrive with it all or mostly completed. Instructors will be available to assist with hair and makeup when needed. Hair products and stage makeup are at the students’ own expense.

All accessories (jewelry, head pieces, arm bands, etc.) will be collected by the studio and brought to each competition. Accessories must be returned to each students’ labeled compartment in the accessory organizer after each routine has performed. Students can take their accessories after the spring recital.

Transportation to and from competitions will not be provided. Parents are responsible for getting their children to the competitions and retrieving them after their final performance. Studnets cannot be left with instructors once they are released for the day.
